Most Cyprus businesses put real effort into Instagram, TikTok or YouTube — yet have no idea whether any of that content ever shows up on Google. Until this month, there was no way to know. In July 2026, Google announced platform properties, a new feature in Search Console that shows exactly how your social media posts and videos perform in Google Search. And you can use it even if you don't have a website.
What Google Announced
Search Console is Google's free tool that shows which searches bring visitors to your website. Platform properties extend that same reporting to four social platforms: Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube. Once you connect an account, you can see which search terms lead people to your posts, how often your content appears in results, and how many clicks it actually earns — across both Google Search and Discover.
Google says the feature is rolling out gradually over the coming weeks, so if you don't see it in your account yet, check back soon.
Why This Matters for Your Business
Google now shows social posts and short videos directly in search results far more often than it used to, because people increasingly want firsthand, human perspectives rather than polished corporate pages. That means your Instagram reel showing a villa renovation in Paphos, or a YouTube tutorial filmed in your Limassol workshop, may already be appearing in Google searches — you just couldn't see it.
Until now, social platforms told you about likes and followers, but nothing about Google. That left a real blind spot:
- You couldn't tell which posts attract people who are actively searching for what you sell.
- You couldn't compare whether your website or your social content wins more visibility on Google.
- Businesses that run mostly on social media had no search data at all.
Platform properties close that gap with three reports.
The Three Reports You Get
- Performance report: your total clicks and impressions from Google, filterable by individual post and search query, with the option to export the data to a spreadsheet.
- Insights report: a simple overview of recent traffic trends, your top-performing posts, and how people discover your account on Google.
- Achievements: milestone notifications when your content passes new click thresholds — handy for spotting momentum.
How to Set It Up in Five Minutes
- Open Google Search Console and sign in with your Google account.
- Click the property selector in the top-left corner and choose "Add property".
- Select one of the four platforms: Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube.
- Follow the on-screen steps to securely authorise the connection to your account.
Repeat this for every platform your business actively uses. Verification only takes a couple of minutes per account.
Three Ways to Use the Data
1. Find your search-friendly content
Sort the Performance report by clicks. The posts that win Google traffic are usually the practical ones: how-tos, before-and-afters, price guides and local recommendations. Once you know what works, make more of it.
2. Match posts to real search terms
The query data shows the exact words people type before finding you. Use those phrases in future captions, video titles and hashtags — and on your website pages too.
3. Compare social against your website
If your TikTok answers a question better than your website does, that's a sign to update the website page — or to link the two together so searchers find both.
One Caveat
Facebook and LinkedIn aren't included yet, which matters in Cyprus where Facebook is still a major channel for local businesses. For those platforms, your website remains your only measurable home on Google — one more reason to keep it healthy and up to date.
