More and more people are getting their answers straight from AI. Ask Google a question today and you will often see an AI Overview at the top of the page — a written answer assembled from websites around the internet, sometimes with your website quoted in it. For business owners, this has raised an uncomfortable question: is AI search sending me visitors, or quietly taking them away? Until recently, there was no way to know. Google has now started to change that.
What Google announced
In June 2026, Google introduced Search Generative AI performance reports in Search Console — the free tool that shows you how your website performs in Google Search. These new reports give you a dedicated view of how often your website appears inside Google's AI features, including AI Overviews and AI Mode, across both Search and Discover.
This data was always counted somewhere. Your appearances in AI Overviews were mixed into your overall performance numbers, so you could never tell how much of your visibility came from traditional blue links and how much came from AI. The new reports finally separate the two.
One important detail: Google is rolling these reports out gradually, starting with a subset of websites, so it can test them and gather feedback before making them available to everyone. If you open Search Console today and do not see the new view, that is normal — it simply has not reached your site yet.
What the new reports show you
Once the reports arrive for your website, you will be able to see:
- Impressions — how often pages from your site appeared inside AI features on Search and Discover.
- Pages — exactly which pages of your website are being picked up by AI. This is gold: it tells you what kind of content AI finds useful.
- Countries — where the people seeing your site in AI results are located, which matters if you serve both local Cypriot customers and visitors from abroad.
- Devices — whether people are seeing you on mobile or desktop.
- Dates — performance over time, with hourly, daily, weekly and monthly views, so you can spot trends rather than guessing.
Why this matters for your business
Think of a hotel in Paphos, a law firm in Nicosia, or an online shop shipping across Cyprus. When someone asks Google "best family hotel near Coral Bay" or "how do I register a company in Cyprus", there is a good chance an AI-written answer appears first. If your website is one of the sources behind that answer, you are visible at the exact moment someone is making a decision. If it is not, your competitor probably is.
Until now, this was invisible. You could not measure it, so you could not manage it. With these reports, appearing in AI answers becomes something you can track like any other marketing channel — and something you can deliberately improve.
Three things to do now
1. Make sure Search Console is set up
Many small businesses in Cyprus have never verified their website in Search Console. It is free, takes minutes to set up, and it is where these AI reports will appear. If your web agency built your site, ask them to confirm you have access — not just them.
2. Check for the new view — and be patient
In Search Console, the generative AI data appears as a separate performance view alongside your normal Search results. Because of the gradual rollout, your site may not have it yet. Check back monthly; Google has said it plans to make the reports widely available and to add more metrics over time.
3. Make your content easy for AI to use
You do not have to wait for the reports to start improving your chances. AI features favour pages that answer questions clearly and directly: well-structured service pages, genuine FAQ sections, up-to-date local information, and content written by people who clearly know their subject. Structured data (the behind-the-scenes labels that tell Google what your pages mean) also helps machines understand and reuse your content correctly.
The bottom line
AI search is not coming — it is already here, and it has been reshaping how Cypriot customers find businesses. What has changed is that Google is finally giving you a window into it. When the new Search Console reports reach your site, you will be able to see whether AI answers are working for you or around you.
