Black Friday 2026: How Cyprus Online Shops Prepare Now

Black Friday used to be an American curiosity. In Cyprus it is now the biggest online shopping week of the year, and your customers will spend it comparing you with Amazon, Zara and every shop that ships to the island. Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. That gives you about ten weeks.

The shops that do well are not the ones with the deepest discounts. They are the ones that decided their offer early, built an audience to sell it to, and made sure the website did not fall over on the day. Here is how to use the time you have.

Start with the maths, not the discount

A 40% off banner is easy to make and easy to regret. Before you promise anything, work out what each product actually earns after the card processing fee, the courier charge and the discount. Many Cyprus shops discover that "free delivery over 50 euro" costs them less and converts better than a blanket percentage off.

  • Pick your heroes. Choose ten to twenty products you can discount properly and still profit on. Leave the rest at full price or in bundles.
  • Bundle instead of slashing. A gift set at a small saving protects your margin and lifts the average order.
  • Decide the calendar. One day, the whole week, or early access for subscribers on the Thursday. Write it down now so your emails, ads and banners all say the same thing.

Build your list while it is still cheap

Advertising costs climb every November because every retailer in Europe is bidding at once. The cheapest Black Friday customer is one you can reach for free: someone already on your email or WhatsApp list.

Put a simple "Get early access to our Black Friday deals" sign-up on your homepage and product pages in September. Offer subscribers the sale a day early. Even a few hundred local sign-ups will outperform cold ads on the day. If you have not run email before, our email marketing guide and the WhatsApp Business guide cover the setup.

Make sure the site can take the traffic

Black Friday traffic on a Cyprus shop can be five to ten times a normal Friday, and most of it arrives on phones. A checkout that times out at 9pm on the 27th is money gone for good.

  • Test a full purchase on a phone using mobile data, not office wifi. Time it. Anything over a minute needs work.
  • Check with your host whether your plan can handle a traffic spike, and ask what happens if it cannot. Do this in October, not on the day.
  • Offer the payment methods people expect. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay at a minimum. Cash on delivery still matters for many Cypriot shoppers and removes a reason to hesitate.
  • Fix the checkout leaks you already know about. Our article on why Cyprus shops lose sales at checkout lists the usual suspects.

Be honest about delivery and returns

The question every shopper asks in late November is "will it arrive in time?". Couriers in Cyprus get busy in December, so publish realistic delivery times and a clear last order date for Christmas. Put them on the product page and in the cart, not buried in a policy page.

Extend your returns window to mid January. Gifts bought on Black Friday are not opened until Christmas, and a generous returns policy is one of the strongest trust signals you can show.

Get Google Shopping and Ads ready in October

If your products appear in Google Shopping, your product feed needs to be accurate before the sale, with correct prices, stock and sale price fields. Google can take days to approve changes, so do not update the feed on the Thursday night. If you are not on Shopping yet, the free listings guide explains how to start.

Paid campaigns need two or three weeks of data before they perform well. Launch them in early November with your normal products, then switch the creative to Black Friday messaging in the final week. And make sure conversion tracking is working, or you will have no idea which ads paid off.

Publish the Black Friday page early

Create one page on your site, for example yourshop.com/black-friday, and keep the same address every year. Publish it in October with a short "coming soon" message and the sign-up form. Google will have time to index it, and searches for your shop name plus "Black Friday" will land on it rather than on a competitor.

When the sale opens, that page becomes your hub: the hero products, the delivery cut-off dates, the returns policy and a short FAQ. Link to it from your homepage banner, your emails and your social posts so everything points to one place.

Your ten week timeline

  • Mid September: choose hero products, confirm margins and stock with suppliers, add the early access sign-up.
  • October: publish the Black Friday page, test checkout on mobile, talk to your host and courier, update the product feed.
  • Early November: launch ads, write and schedule the email sequence, brief staff on delivery promises.
  • Week of 23 November: send early access to subscribers on Thursday, open publicly on Friday, watch orders and stock daily.
  • December: follow up with every new customer. The people who buy on Black Friday are your Christmas and January audience.

Where to start this week

Open your sales figures from last November and look at what actually sold and what it earned. That one exercise will settle most of the decisions above. Then check your product pages for the hero products, because that is where the discount is finally won or lost.
